Happy Buddha. Budai is known by his Sanskrit name of Maitreya. He represents the teachings of contentment, generosity, wisdom and kind-heartedness. He is also associated with luck and abundance. He is the guardian and protector of children, the weak and poor. As a wandering monk, Budai is known to take sadness from people and bring them happiness.
